The GCH and UN Habitat co-organize, in collaboration with the Geneva Water Hub, the first of a series of ‘Geneva Urban Debates’ (GUDs), which highlights the role of cities in relation to issues that lie at the heart of the International Geneva ecosystem. This first GUD celebrates World Water Day and puts at the centre of the debate urban and municipality voices, as well as UN agencies and NGOs working in urban contexts on water and sanitation. The event is supported by the City of Geneva, the Canton of Geneva (founders of the Geneva Cities Hub) and the Swiss Confederation.
Headquartered in Geneva, IFRC works with all National Red Cross/Crescent Societies to provide humanitarian assistance in non-conflict situations (e.g., disasters, health emergencies), which increasingly occur in urban contexts.
City managers and representatives from the healthcare sector in Chicago(USA), Karachi (Pakistan) and Fortaleza (Brazil) will present theirexperiences and share their best practices to limit the consequences ofviolence on the healthcare services, enhancing access to healthcare for thewhole urban community.
This session, organised by the Geneva Cities Hub in collaboration with the Geneva Academy, brings together a diverse panel with experience working with government, citizens, municipal authorities and businesses to deliver smart cities innovations that improve the quality of life for populations in urban areas across the globe.
