GCH President to address the UN GA High-Level Meeting on the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda

Mr. Sami Kanaan, President of the Geneva Cities Hub, and deputy Mayor of Geneva, has been invited to address the High-Level Meeting on the New Urban Agenda convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E Mr. Abdulla Shahid on 28 April 2022 in New York. Six years after the adoption of the New Urban Agenda, States, UN Regional Economic Commissions, UN agencies, local and regional governments, and other relevant stakeholders will assess the progress in its implementation and put forward new commitments to revitalize it.

On that occasion, Mr. Kanaan will speak about the UNECE Forum of Mayors as a tool to drive multilevel collaboration and action around the New Urban Agenda. He will speak alongside 4 other mayors invited by the UN Regional Economic Commissions to emphasize the importance of partnerships with local and regional governments to achieve the objectives of the New Urban Agenda.
